GNU Free Documentation License A big choice about dog training school.....need some input please? Q. I always second guess every decision I make. I have asked questions on here before about dog behavior problems and most people are mean. However they recommended training. So I looked into different ones. I finally picked one because I needed a lot of help with my dog. It is odd because my area does not offer training and I never see anyone walking there dogs and training is a little taboo here or not known about. My vet could not even provide me with a trainer reference. So this is all new to me. OK there are two schools that caught my eye. I went with the one farther away and most expensive lol... I met the people and had a great feeling about them. However I have never taken a dog to training before. The trainer had… [cont.] Asked by just julie - Fri Feb 27 14:47:55 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. wow ... that's a lot. OK first thing: find a trainer who will work WITH you. your first option sounds more like a doggy daycare. I'd be very surprised if they actually train your dog anything...I can almost guarantee: when you get your dog back nothing will have changed except that he'll have extreme seperation anxiety, thanks to the TV &may forget how to behave in a home environment, since he'll have his own "room"...I'm sorry, 30minutes a day for play time is NOT enough. They need constant attention. They're pack animals, not cats. BTW, treat training is useless. >>how old is your dog now? I have no clue where you live, but I wouldn't trust any of these "trainers". **personally ... the guadi website isn't impressing me at all! I am 15 looking for a career in Pit bull Behavior Rehabilitation and every time I type in "Pit bull Behavior Rehabilitation" It always comes up as either "Wildlife Training" or "Dog Training/Whisperer" I just wanted to know if they mean the same thing and Does ANYONE Know what website I should go to or what to type in??I would be very grateful! Thank you!!! Asked by ForgottenDream - Tue Sep 16 13:58:08 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. In this case behavior rehabilitation and training are used the same. I unfortunately don't know at which sites would be best to look. Training is probably the best term I can come up with for searching. Answered by Orange_Spherical_Squash - Tue Sep 16 14:40:38 2008 What is the source of my dog's aggressive behavior?
Q. I have a four-month-old miniature schnauzer. While behaving and training splendidly in the home environment, he is acting aggressively toward other people and animals in public. We are using the 'nothing in life is free' approach, and are also working with a personal trainer to resolve these issues. I am confident we will be able to. My question is ... what could be the source of this aggression? I have had him since he was 7 weeks, and made sure to take him out in public with several people around. No one harrassed him in any way. Over the weeks, he began to become more and more surly until now (when he is snapping, growling, and barking). He has all his shots, eats quality dog food, is loved amply. He is potty trained and knows sit and… [cont.] Asked by cargirl - Fri Sep 7 15:32:59 2007 - - 21 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's good that you are working with a trainer. It could be a number of things that your dog is reacting to. It's great that you are taking him out and getting him socialized but how often are you taking him out? How many people/animals is he around? If he's around the same people and animals all of the time, of course, he's going to be used to them. If it's only the strangers that he is snipping at, then he is protecting himself or you. Socializing animals is very important and it's even more important to do it when they are very young. Start taking your dog to a park where there are other animals and go for walks. When you are walking and he over reacts to other people or dogs, stop him very abuptly and make him sit, tap him on… [cont.] Answered by me n' mona - Fri Sep 7 15:42:02 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Dog training and behavior" Company for Christmas: The Dog Shouter
